Study ranks Rīga most affordable short-term tourism destination

2025 05 30

Riga has been named the most affordable city for short travels in Europe in 2025, according to the Post Office Travel Money City Costs Barometer 2025 survey published in the British newspaper Financial Times.
The study analysed 12 of the most popular tourist expenses, including food, city transport and accommodation, in 38 cities across Europe. In Rīga, a two-night stay in a three-star hotel, meals, drinks and transport costs total around £253.

The Lithuanian capital Vilnius is in second place with £254, while the Polish capital Warsaw is in third place with £277.

The study highlights that Rīga, along with other cities in the Baltic States and neighbouring countries, dominates the list by offering value for money.

Post Office Travel Money is a currency exchange service provider in the United Kingdom. Every year, the company publishes the City Costs Barometer study to help travellers plan more budget-friendly trips.
